Am just going to plant out some of these, details on packet, say 2 ft apart, do they need support, does anyone know? Or do they just 'ramble' like courgettes? Also, not sure what kind of crop you get from them, how many plants should I put out? 4? 6 ?

If, as the translation suggests, these are the same as my'Paris pickling cucumbers' they will scramble like courgettes without support but are likely to rot that way. Mine are always supported either by trellis or short wigwam.
A wigwam over a large pot with three Q plants and some lobelia looks beautiful, is easy to pick and some vaseline or copper tape round the pot keeps them free of slugs.
You'll need to tie the Qs to the canes and keep it well watered but this is the most successful (and ornamental) way I have found to grow them.

I grow twelve!
I have four almost ready to go out, with sow four more today and then four more in a couple of weeks.
I find them to be prolific but they don't crop terribly long which is why I sow successionally.

Although I plant three in a large pot, I always sow four in case of mishap...two would look a bit naff and the extra plant I bung up at the allotment somewhere as my insurance policy!

We eat a lot of cucumber...the kids take them whole in packed lunches...and this variety make very good pickles so you can never have too many even when you do (if you know what I mean!)

Thanks, I'll stick them in and see how they do, they All germinated, so have a number, but not masses of space.
