  • anybody replanted seed potatoes that have been planted once

early this year i planted some international kidney in pots in the green house

normally seed potatoes go soggy and rotten but emptying some pots today and the seed potatoes came out in pretty much the condition they went in so im going to save them and do an experiment to see if they will go again

    any one done this before

im also saving some of the newly grown im going to leave them in a tray to chit ready for next year

    and im eating the rest

I've replanted some of the plants that I have harvested, but the seed potatoes themselves had rotted. I haven't dug them up again yet though.

Was thinking of trying that too (if I remember not to eat them all .......)

I had a few spuds over from last year in the shed and planted them as seed potatoes this year. My theory is if the volunteers come up from the spud that get left behind why can't I use some of last years harvest as seed potatoes?

these arent new potatoes these are potatoes that have already grown some potatoes they did not rot in the pots so we have eaten what they grew im going to replant the original seed potatoe to grow some more

ie 2 crops from 1 potatoe

I did this a year or two ago when I found the seed potato still firm. I got a handful of bonus potatoes a few weeks later from a rather unhappy looking plant.

From the one experiment, it was interesting to try, but probably not worth the fuss.
