Newbie ..please be gentle

hello, I'm new to the forum not new to gardening but still class myself as a complete beginner. I don't have a green house this year as of yet (but I'm working on it ) last one got seriously damaged by the wind, there was glass was everywhere gable end twisted etc..anyway a friend gave me a poly tunnel so figured I'd put it up and give it a go. It has a few holes in it but will do me for now!

Anyways all I have in there is six tomato plants which seem to be doing okay. I have two raised beds new this year, in one I have onions and two rhubarb plants ( they wont grow anywhere else ) in the other I have beetroot and carrots. I have a three pots of strawberries. Last year i grew cucumbers, sweetcorn and potatoes (although grew potatoes in bags and didn't do very well )
I have bought today some lettuce seeds and peas..What else can I start growing now. I haven't got the third bed built yet but hoping if I start something off by the time its ready to be planted out the OH would have built it, the peas ~Im going to grow in pots ....Thanks

kohl rabbi
beetroots
hispi cabbages
Dill
Florence (bulb) fennel
mexican tree spinach

I am also about to sow some pepper seeds to try and overwinter.
A few more buckets of carrots
Some 'early' potatoes to be ready for xmas

Guess I'm what you'd call a boring gardener. My OH only eats carrots, beetroot and onions. Son will eat peas, carrots and that is about it. I eat cauliflower sprouts etc , but although Id like to have a try at growing them is there any point when only I eat them , though I guess if grew something that I could freeze, that wouldn't be so bad. Ill end up spending a fortune on seeds just for a few out of each packet. Im struggling with a bad back too so quite limited on what I can do without asking for help, and i hate asking for help especially from OH and DS who have no interest what so ever. Maybe I should buy a cocoa bean plant tell them I'm growing chocolate ..id get their interest then !!

Maybe you could buy a small plant instead of seeds? That way you already have the head start and you could try something you might never have thought of before, i've just got 3 cucamelon plug plants so i'm really excited to see if they do anything, in the greenhouse atm. Just grow a bit of what you fancy, gal! Enjoy the moment when your carefully sowed seeds start germinating and flourish - try some flowers too - I have for the first time this year, just a few, and it gets you hooked!
Enjoy yourself, and just try different free seeds - you never know, you, OH, kids might even like them!

Decided Im off shopping tomorrow to buy a few more seeds / plants.. .My daughter has just been given keys to her new house yesterday so will be helping her the best I can but no matter what im still doing my garden on the plus side I now have her garden to design ..wonder if she would let me have a veg plot there too lol
