  • How many Courgettes, Squashes and Cucumbers have you grown & picked :)

Any one want to share how many cucurbits they're growing and keep their own running total of how many they pick?

I haven't planted out all of mine yet but...........

    Picked 4 Courgettes

  • #2
Planted 4 No courgettes,5 No summer squashes and about a dozen random winter squashes. They only got planted out in the past week or so so no fruits yet.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

Planted 4 summer squashes and truly lost count of how many winter ones and courgettes. Still got lots in pots in PT and now resorted to shoving them in anywhere I can find a spot in the garden. Haven't picked any yet.
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

Cucumber Cucino - 2 plants in my friend's greenhouse, 2 picked and a couple about ready
Cucumber Vega - 1 plant at home, nowhere near ready yet
Courgette Piccolo - 1 plant at my friend's, fairly well massacred by slugs and unlikely to survive
Courgette Goldmine - 2 plants, one at home and one at my friend's, neither anywhere near ready
Courgette Green Bush - 6 plants, one at my friends and 5 currently at home, not yet flowering
Melon Alvaro - 1 plant in my friend's greenhouse, about 6 inches high
Melon Magenta - 1 plant, ditto.

Courgettes: two plants so far (am going to start another two off this weekend): none picked so far but there's one ready (it's a yellow one, and they don't seem to grow to baseball bat size quite so fast, so I've left it on the plant).
Melons: I'm not owning up how many planted if Norfolkgrey thinks that 33 are too many. So far, a few flowers but no pollinated females.
Cucs: no plants (I never have much luck and we don't eat that many)
Squash: 20 (1 Crown Prince, 3 Galeux d'Eysines, rest butternut) plants but not planted out so none picked. I'm growing this many because I will only get a single crop at this late stage of the year.

ie...wait to see how many get through their initial snug attack phase...

Ive just got 2 carmen cucumbers indoors & 2 or 3 cucino cucumbers in the raised bed. The ones indoors are growing really well, the outdoors ones seem happy being tiny seedlings,no cucumbers yet on any. Tiny ones have formed on the carmen but I sowed them earlier because they don't go outside.

3 Courgettes Parthenon so don't rely on insects for pollination. To date I've had over 25 courgettes these are fantastic plants for early season produce
