        2 tbs oil
        1/2 onion, chopped
        2 tps garlic
2 cues peeled, seeded and chopped
        1 cup of veg stock
        1/2 cup of milk
        1tbs soy sauce
        1 tsp dried herbs
        1/2 tsp chilli flakes
        1/2 tsp cayenne powder
        1 tsp curry powder

cook onions and garlic off in pan with oil.
        add stock, milk and cue.
        season with everything else.
bring to simmer on medium high heat.
reduce heat and simmer for 10mins.
blitz til soup is creamy yet grainy.

The original recipe calls for double quantities on the seasonings but I found that too much to start with.

Now I have picked the fruit there does not seem to be anymore on the way.

Are you still getting flowers? If yes, check there are both male and female flowers (female will have a fruit type bit behind the flower) If yes have you got beasties about to pollinate? If yes have you checked for slimies? If yes, I am now stumped on what is wrong

              • just picked 8 marrows, each weighing between 1 and 2 kilos!
They should of course of been courgettes, but I made the school-boy error of going on holiday for 2 weeks during a period of optimum growing conditions!

                • smooth cucumbers = 6
ridged cucumbers = 4 ... and now climbing across roof of greenhouse, in 10ins pots, fed once a week..

                  • Another 6 courgettes so 83, & another 8 cucumbers so 36. How did 8 cucumbers grow overnight? I swear they weren't anywhere near ready yesterday.....

                    • took 3 more cucumbers but two were bitter.
If stressed plants make bitter fruits then mine must be positively hysterical

Two more courgettes....oh flip! I need to go back and see what number I'm on

                      edit; 8 courgettes
Qs = 13 minus the two bitter ones so I'm calling it 11

                        • 2 zucchini
                          5 polo
                          1 Tondo di Piacenza
                          6 romanesco
                          3 black forest
                          2 coucuzella
                          1 shooting star

AT LAST A SHOOTING STAR. Bit disappointed really. It's supposed to climb but at best it can be forcibly tied to a stake - same goes for the black forest - both have a short vining habit but aren't really climbers. At least the black forest has produced some nice courgettes, quite plump - the shooting star are skinny straws. Won't be on my list for next year.

The trombones are putting on female flowers - but none have opened yet. Great climber but so far nothing off 5 plants - everything else I have 2 plants of and they're putting up the goods - except for the yellow patipan from the James Wong collection from Sutton. With 2 plants all they've produced so far are 2 fruit about the size of a 50p piece so they're off the list.

The trombones may make it though as the only climber I've tried that climbs and once they start producing their courgettes the size could make up for the lateness - although by then I'll be all courgetted out.

Well my total up to now is 87 courgettes.

                              • ......... I really wish I had started to keep count when my courgettes/trombos/q's started producing.....!

After a slow start with the q's they're really making up for it now - I'm getting 1 or two a day now from three plants ~ and so far, not any bitter ones...! And yes, happyhumph ~ I'm sure they do produce overnight, it's quite astonishing really .....

And I swear my pumpkins are growing as you watch 'em.....
