Peas only made it to six inches and they are flowering! Not going to get much of these.

I lost all 16 heritage tomato plants very early on to blight.. the potatoes blighted.
I had to throw 30 iceberg lettuces as they were literally peppered with tiny slugs.
Parsnips didn't germinate.
Spinach bolted.
Blueberries got attacked by a weird caterpillar.
Turnips got eaten by flea beetles.
I'm blaming El Nino! Lol
Always next year..<*}}}>< Jonathan ><{{{*>

I had 4 Marketmore cucumbers and 2 of them just lay down and died.
3 of my potatoes (Colleen) developed blackleg, in the middle of the drill so I had to do a lot of manouvering to get them out.
Parsnips, and Corriander didnt germinate at all and the jury is still out on whether the carrots are a hit or miss.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Most of my duck eaten potatoes have given up.
My oldests carrots are bolting with no root
I have pollination issues with my melons.
I had to play hunt the garlic and I bought all new bulbs last year as well
Okra is doin nothing.
Toms in gh1 are all plant and little fruit
Strawbs are no longer rotting but have no flavour
But I have a very promising crop of aubergines coming

My main tale of woe is my complete inability to succession sow!
I have either a feast or famine of lettuce and radish and nothing in between, lesson learned for next year
Second to this is sowing things far too close together, my poor DFBs are all drowning one another, another lesson for next year lolLast edited by SaraJH; 19-07-2016, 11:02 PM.

peas have been pathetic think i've managed about 6 pods which were eaten before they got to the house, broad beans about the same, toms in the greenhouse look fantastic but not much in the way of fruit, sweetcorn still only about 30cms tall, all in all a pretty poor start to the season, but later stuff does look like it'll be ok,fingers crossed!

Some potatoes starting to get blight
Cabbages really slow
Lettuces slow to germinate
Tonnes of slugs
On the plus side, I have more chilies than I can shake a stick at..I dream of a better tomorrow, where chickens can cross the road and not be questioned about their motives....
...utterly nutterly

Any ideas why my Carrott seedlings are going yellow and slightly brown at the end of their leaves?

hmmm...slugs...eaten most stuff on the lottie...on my 5th carrot sowing! No parsnips. most of the courgettes were gobbled (and the squashes are so late this year I doubt we will get fruit...)
Pea moth in the peas (obviously...), some kind of maggoty thing in my strawberries making them mushy, raspberry beetle (as per every year), more slugs, hail that shredded every living thing on the plot, headless sunflowers (slugs again). slugs and cabbage white (sneaked in under the netting) on the brassicas, no peaches, birds ate all the cherries, no figs, foxes/cats keep digging in the no dig beds, slugs again...oh an my 1 year old son sat on a lot of plants....If it ain't broke...fix it til it is!

Here I go
Sweetcorn is no bigger than when I planted them
Celeriac died a death
Sweet Peas have lost the will to live
Toms been a disaster again this year. No flowers, no nothing. Not bothering with them again.
Cucumber has disappeared somewhere.
Peas got snowed on fought back then got eaten by either the allotment deer or pheasant.
Carrots can't be arsed to grow
Parsnip seeds well a bit like the carrots.
Runner beans were started at home then planted direct but nothing either way
A very deep breath has been taken in and exhaled. But hey this is what makes gardening 'fun' the challenge and the feeling of satisfaction when something finally grows. Well that's what I keep telling myself.sigpic
