I have 2 Marketmore cucumber plants growing in organic compost and they don't seem to be making any progress. The fruit on them is tiny and the colour of the plant is pale instead of dark green. They have some cucumelons growing in between which seem just as slow. I have fed a little with some chicken manure pellets but still not showing any signs of progress. Are they looking normal ?

Marb, I grow Marketmore in pots outside and normally (not allowing for rain or slugs) they only grow a little bit - like BM said 3ft ish. Although, outside they might get alot taller.
Mine look like yours so either they are all OK or all wrong.Last edited by Lumpy; 27-06-2016, 06:44 PM.I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. Thomas A. Edison

They look OK to me. Mine has some yellowing leaves at the bottom as well - it has been slow to grow even in the polytunnel though I've had a couple of very small cucumbers off it. I think yours will do just fine with some more sun. Blame it on the weatherLOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

I bought three marketmore since none of my gherkins or cucumbers germinated, and that's out of approx 20 sown! I kept them in the greenhouse to pamper them a bit, then hardened them off over two weeks (WAY more effort than I usually put in), then planted them out. They did nothing for a week or so , then keeled over and seem to have died. All three of them. Arrgh!

I had a few yellow tinged leaves today they were huge like I could have hidden my face behind them so I chopped them off. There's lots of other leaves on the plants and lots of new growth so I figured it would give the plant more energy removing them anyway. Stupidly didn't take a pic of the leaves I chopped off though. Mine are in a tunnel. My middle son has one outside and his is around a foot tall and has buds with absolutely no yellowing no buds on mine yet and yellowing and mine are at a height of around 18" maybe slightly more and climbing. His is in his bed with a cane to tie it to but it hasn't been tied as we hadn't been down since Thursday and it's gone mad since thenLast edited by Llevrah; 27-06-2016, 11:04 PM.
