Courgettes, cucs and toms

I wonder if you could offer some advice.

Courgettes ..in tubs on decking, I'm getting single flowers opening then nothing.

Cucs . In GH in tubs , flowers open then nothing. (Not had this before but not grown gergana before)
Is it the cool weather?

We are due this week and onwards into next week evenings of 6 , 7 and 8. Should I try the deck plants in a blowaway or will it not make a difference. I've not tried courgettes before so nothing to compare against weather wise.

Toms in GH, various types . I usually stop them as they start to veer up with glass or end up all leaning over. With the weather I'm wondering whether to train thain some further up on twine to try and get more fruit . Worth a try? I'd get OH to put some self tappers into frame to wind twine around.

Courgettes - It sounds like they could be the male flowers, are they just on long stems?

On my all green bush Courgette plant the females are appearing first, the first courgette is growing and there hasn't even been any male flowers opened yet. Got me a bit stumped as it isn't an all female variety as i can see little male flowers.

The second pic there's 2 flowers ,one still in bud closest coming off a thicker stem. Maybe they are female flowers then? I shall g00gle images.

Have g00gled. So cold weather, lack of sun can stop female flowers. Looks like they are female so il try hand pollinating ...that doesn't sound right ..you know what I mean.
Will try investigate GH problem with cucs too. Maybe more handy work

As for toms , I'm undecided. Maybe itl delay rest ripening.

Cucumber Gergana is a "traditional" variety (as opposed to an all female one) which as far as I am aware means it needs pollinating. As with the courgettes, some of the flowers will have little cucumbers behind them and some (the males) will not. You can hand pollinate, although it is quite tricky.

Yes, the gergana were grown by relative and said may need pollinating by me. I will try tomorrow on them and the courgettes .

When I grew first courgies in the garden bees stuck to the neighbours cotoneaster so I had to fiddle around with a little paint brush in order to pollinate them.

I found an Rhs note today which said to peel back the male petals carefully to reveal its antlers then use to pollinate , can be used for several .
