  • sorry another lettuce question

Hi. my iceberg lettuce seem to be splitting. is this something I'm doing wrong? and are they still edible? Thanks

Iceberg lettuce don't like warm weather, which can cause them to split or bolt. That is probably hte problem - it may be better to grow them in spring or autumn.

From your picture it doesn't look like the head is rotting, so you will probably be able to eat it, but I would not leave it too long before you do.

Aww, don't compost it . Home grown veg is rarely perfect and you should get quite a bit of nice lettuce off a head that size.

Don't waste it! It isn't rotting - eat it!

I'd also eat that lettuce if you've got too many to eat have you thought about lettuce soup I know it sounds odd but it tastes fine.
