Last year, I planted only a couple of courgettes because you can have too many, they got powdery mildew early and died off quite quickly. So this year, I've planted more (10 at the allotment and one in the polytunnel as an experiment) I'm picking four or five courgettes every day and the plants are incredibly healthy. So this seems to be the answer - plant more than you'll need and everything with grow madly.

Roitelet - how often should I spray the leaves with the milk/water solution......?

It does seem to have helped, doesn't look as white today ........

Spray every couple of days and especially after rain. The mildew should start to disappear after two or three applications. Don't forget the underside of the leaves and any leaves that are not showing any signs of it yet.

I think I might have to cut my losses with the one plant that is affected ......

I've cut off several leaves, sprayed and will spray again ~ BUT I shan't be able to tend to it for a whole week as I'm away .........so shall have to see what happens in my absence...!

Hope my other plant doesn't succumb to it ............
