With tights you put one onion in, tie a not, as so on. That way if one goes rotten it isn't touching any other onions. You just snip the tights to get your onions - tights cant be worn afterwards though

I store mine in old tights, braids look nice but tights are quicker and I like the fact it keeps them apart.
