Transplanting perenial kale

I have just got myself an allotment (woop!) And have a rather large perenial kale plant in my garden(portuguese walking stick kale, I think) but ideally I would like to move it to my allotment.
I was wondering if I'd be able to move it but I have no idea how this would affect the plant. Should I cut the leaves back?
Any thoughts/experiences with this would be appreciated!

Depends on how big is big! I have some 5-6' tall kales with trunks, not stems that i would not want to move.
Are there any sideshoots that you can root up?

I was going to suggest that too.

I started mine from a simple, tiny cutting of a friend's plant. Even if you do move the original, I'd have a couple of cuttings rooted first just in case.

Here are a couple of perennial kales that flowered this year. I've dead headed it and saved the seeds but you can see some large side shoots on the "trunks". Some smaller shoots have grown since this was taken.
