Forum posts can be very deceptive. Sometimes I go down to my friend's and everyone is in the tack room having a coffee and chat, and I spend an hour in there, then an hour in the garden, but the list of stuff I've done looks long and productive. Another day I'll spend 2 hours in the garden as nobody is around, but the sum total of what I have done can be summed up in one word - weeding.A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP. - Leonard Nimoy

Back on the chain gang again this evening!Smashed up the rest of the old greenhouse concrete base with a big hammer!
Full of adrenalin, rather a pleasurable experience!

Wheel barrowed most of the spoil from the old greenhouse base away to the bottom of the plot to be used as a base for the shed. The amount of spoil I am accumulating there probably means the shed is going to have a step up to it!
Tomorow evenings job is to either dig out the raspberries that are in the way or start on the keyhole for the bed where the greenhouse was.
I did light the woodburner this evening but I broke up some of the greenhouse wooden base to do this and it was damp and rotten so didn't burn paricularily well!My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order

Dry but cold today. Unloaded some fence boards i had been given and put them indoors to dry out a bit.
This is about 1/3rd of what is available, along with the stringers and posts from the fence as well. Not 100% sure what I am going to do with them yet, but worse case scenarion I can chop them up for wood for my woodburner. Seems a bit of a waste though.
I dug up the 'long cane' raspberries that were at the side of the greenhouse where it was sited. Got a wjheelbarrow load of long cane plants ready to transplant, where because i have left long canes i should get a crop next year.
Cleared away the last of the rubble from the old greenhouse base. I then positioned the keyhole. I had no sand to make concrete so I just stuck a paving flag as the keyhole for the time being.
I then dug over the compacted soil where the greenhouse was and because the 'Muck man' had been to the site, I wheelbarrowed three loads of muck and spread it on the newest keyhole bed.
The plot is really starting to take shape now methinks. Still lots to do but it doesm't look as ominous as it did at the beginning. My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order

Took a couple of seed heads off my show leeks on my old plot. There seems to be loads of leek grass and pips/pods on them. Tomorrow evening after work I will strip them and put them in damp paper until I get home. I'll then put them in a jam jar of water to let there roots develop a bit. Once developed I'll pot them on.
At plot 24 I only had time to move a couple of pots of garlic plants out of the summerhouse to make a bit of room. I put the pots in the greenhouse with no windows to experiment with growing indoors and outdoors.
Dug some soil out of the old leek trench and 'Cut and shut' it into places where the soil was low. One good thing about it being dusk was that it was easy to see the spaghetti roots of bindweed in the soil and dispose of it.Last edited by Snadger; 28-11-2016, 06:49 PM.My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order

Shifted four barrow loads of soil from old leek trench to low spots on the plot before it got too dark! Do you think if I rigged up a tilley lamp and got cracking diggiing someone might report me as being a' Burke and Hare' type character and think I was burying the MIL?
I need to concentrate on hacking a path through the old leek trench so I can carry on laying paving flags.
