  • Put a few braces into the chicklen run roof. Cut two roosting bars for inside the coop and will fasten them into position tomorrow evening when there is more light.
Hope to have the chooks moved to there new home by the weekend so I need to get a move on.

    • A lot of wood sawing, hammering of nails (sometimes the wrong one) ouch and screwing taking place on chicken run and coop build.

Coop completely finished now with roosting bars and home made catch to hinged side for cleaning purposes.
Run just about finished apart from a small ammount of mesh to add then everything to be fully nailed up with wire staples.
Deadline of this weekend for moving of chooks should be achievable. I would still like to build them somewhere up a height under cover for perching during the daylight hours. I have a pallete supended one metre off the ground in my other chook run and they love to get on it and sit in the sunshine preening themselves.

      • Just about ready for the big chook move tomorrow evening. It will probably be easier to get a hold of them in the dark and be less unsetling on the chooks to wake up in a new coop and run the following morning.

Did some titivation to the coop and filled nestbox full of straw for the new arrivals. Still a bit of nailing down the mesh around the perimeter but should get that finished tomorrow.

I'm rather excited by the move and hope they like there new environment..

I'll give them a day or two to settle in then try and get some piccies.

            • Just came back from the alloments in the dark. Managed to get nine hens and one cockerel transported into there new home. It got too dark to see so had to give up and head for home By my reckoning there should still be three hens and a cockerel to try and transport in the morning.
Wonderful eveining, hissing it down, sweating like billio and covered in hen S$%t, not my idea of a saturday night out!

              • All thirteen hens and two cockerels in new home now. They seem to love it and even laid me the first three eggs in the new nestbox!

I had to spend three hours this morning finalising proceedings and getting the last few to their new home. Remeber Rocky chasing hens to keep fit?..............well that was me this morming.
I thought the two white ones had snuffed it until I realised they were sunbathing. The old run got the afternoon and evening sun whereas this one gets sun from sunrise to about 6.00pm.

Got their springfeeder hung up under there chook conservatory, gave them some stale scones and some apples along with there mixed corn this evening.

Now hopefully I can spend some time gardeneing rather than joinery work.

I intend to start transporting my pan tiles from the old plot tomorrow evening after work and start edging the beds with them.

Hey, I've got relatives in the North East and from my experience that's a pretty typical Saturday night

I've just got through this whole (mammoth) thread and have to say you've done an amazing job, well done, it's going to be great to see it as it transitions through the growing season. Just wanted to say really so keep it up and the photos coming

                    • I think I may try the mammoth task of replacing all the lost piccies on this thread which can't be accessed, with ones that can be accessed by using the edit feature.

                      • Right, teckie guys. Went to reinstate the piccies on the first thread. Deleted the three old links and put two new piccies on. Went to put the third piccie on to be informed I can only use a maximum of five piccies?

I can only assume that even though i have deleted the original links they are still somehow being recognised and the two picies i have added totals five with the ones I deleted making the other three?

Is there a way round this as most of my posts have three piccies?

                        • I've tried it too - and failed
As you say, it seems to recognise that the original images are there because they count towards your total of 5. Deleting them doesn't work.
At least you have the original photos, Snadger.
Some of us will have dumped them once posted.

Before you ask, there is no more news from the IT team about retrieving the images.

                            http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...ges_92509.html
But I seriously doubt it There has not been any professional communication between the service provider and the user since we experienced the problem earlier in the year. This is clearly not something that the mods can deal with and is therefore not any reflection on them- I love them

                              • Hurt my back chicken stalking so didn't think i would manage much graft at the plot this evening. Transported four barrow loads of pan tiles from my old plot to new plot and it seemd to ease my back rather than hurt more. It must have been the weight pulling the vertibrae back into position. Who needs a chiropractor when you have an allotment

Showed a very nice family around the two plots our treasurer is giving up. We wanted to let them to one plotholder because one plot is covered with polytunnels, chicken coop and run and large pond and other plot is veggy plot plus soft fruit, so each compliments the other.
They would have taken both plots there and then but i had to contact the Chairmen to see if he had let any plots. I've just had his reply and he's already let the two plots in question I feel gutted for the family, but hey ho, I'll have to contact them.
