A nice little gift from the plot yesterday!I Dug up these Pink Fir Apple potatoes from last years plants. Makes me wonder why I don't just lift all my spuds as i need them as they were in perfect condition.
Cut into four and deep fried, served in a bowl with grated cheese over the top they were a supper to die for and a welcome bonus!

I think I had already mentioned that I have blagged an IBC container. As you know they aren't a thing of beauty, but I've had to site it in the corner on my patio section. This is so I can add guttering to the back of my summerhouse and a down pipe to fill it.
I will clad it with wooden boards to tidy it up eventually.
Heres a piccie as is, it needs to be lifted up on bricks so that i can fill my watering can.
I had to move my octagon table and picnic bench to site the IBC. Heres a piccie of octagon table re-sited with umbrella I scrounged and picnic bench moved to the front of summerhouse. I am pleased with new positions

Looking great Snadge, till you get round to cladding the IBC, why not just give it a coat of that green fence paint you got just to blend it in & keep the algae down.

Spent half the day in bed today with a bad back. Got a fair bit reading done anyway!
Dosed myself up with Ibruproven and Co-Codamol (i'll be rattling sonn)
Went to the scrapheap and Sowed a tray full of Swede, and hoe'd up the rest of my tatties to keep mobile. Noticed my sunflowers are up and my Yacon is starting to grow. Donated some Black Russian tomato seedlings to another plotholder.
Did a bit more stone masonry on my stone chimney surrounding the woodburner flue in the summerhouse.
I need to find a biscuit tin to butt up against the flue and utilise the heat, then surround with stone. This will be my pie warmer!

Its electric fencing wire. Its there as a template to build to, tied to cup hooks screwed to the roof and tied around the lintel, as the stonework will taper towards the roof.
The concrete lintel (found on the plot) is resting on top of the cast iron woodburner, and stonework on top of that. Eventually a couple of triangular shelves will be added onto lintel and area for drying logs will be underneath.

Not much done today. Had a bit of a tidy up in summerhouse. Lifted the blue debri netting on spring cabbage and planted 10 calabrese plants I had grown in modules and hardened off in dog cage!
Flaming pigeons must have been sticking there heads through the dog cage mesh and nibbling the outer plants. Moved all brassicas to the centre of the cage and and applied a few slug pellets where animals cant get at them in the cage.. Watered and put slug pellets around the Calabrese before fixing the debri netting back in place, Noticed my PSB have germinated in a pot in the summrhouse.

Rain and sleet sent me indoors at the plot. Took two pumpkin seedlings to the summerhouse before they got too leggy on the windowsill at home.
Completed a bit more stone work around the chimney flue.
Cut some timber, got the woodburner going and banked it up before i left to hopefully keep it frost free during the night.

Raining at the scrapheap so retired indoors, lit the woodburner and progresed with building the stone fireplace (heat sink) around the flue. Found i quite enjoy stone masonary, but don't think I'm particularily good at it! Left a hole to warm my pasties/pies on flue!

Our England is a garden, and such gardens are not made
By singing-'Oh how beautiful!" and sitting in the shade,
While better men than we go out and start their working lives
