Left car at small car park near to allotment gates. Had six breeze blocks in boot and imtended to collect them from car with wheelbarrow.
Unfortunately the heavens opened, so had to wait it out in the summerhouse, checking for leaks while I sat there.
Eventuallt dried up and managed to get breezeblocks to plot. One more car load and I should have enough for the greenhouse base.

Went this morning to have a mooch about two local Garden Centres. Once I had negotiated my way through the baubles ,fake snow and plastic fir trees and Santa's I eventually came upon gardening stuff. Not a lot, but at least they each supposedly had a sale on.
Bought some garlic at one and some reduced curly kale at tuther. There was a lovely established Cotinus at one for 8 squid which I wish I had bought now!
Dropped off and wheel barroed another five paving flags to site and laid them out roughly where they will go.
Decided to harvest my three pumpkins in case we have a frost. A frost on tuthers pumpkins would be my ONLY chance in the pumpkin competition.
Filled 6 X 12" pots with compost from grow bags and planted six garlic cloves in each. I've left these in the summerhouse to give a little bit of protection.
Thats about iot really. After dodging the rain showers I fed & watered the chooks on my other plot and took home a box full of stored tatties!

Called at the GC to buy some white plant labels to label my chrysanths. On the way out there was a 'Please take one' sign on some delapidated herb plants. Had a rummage through and picked up a lovely plant of my favouritr herb , Bergamot.
Dropped off another 5 breeze blocks at plot and worked out that I now have enough for my new greenhouse foundations!
Here's a piccie of roughly where its going to go.
Next I need to level and concrete each corner in in the right position then its a simple matter of concreting in breeze blocks up to these fixed points.
I'm off work next week so weather permitting I may get this eyesore knocked down and replaced with a keyhole bed

Not much done this evening!Started labelling the chrysanths but it got dark fairly quickly so bad light stopped play. One good thing was that it is OH's birthday tomorrow so once labelled I was able to pick her a large bunch of chrysanths to go with the bunch I had bought her!
Looking forward to klnocking seven bells out of the plot next week when I am on Holiday.
Allotment Pumpkin competion to officiate on Saturday afternoon as well.

More chrysanth labelling this evening. Once it got dark it was hard to tell the difference between red and purple chrysanths. I have a pale yellow chrysanth which i have no details for and think it must have been from some chrysanths I bought two years ago.(Beppe series i think?)
I appear to have about nine differnt cultivars with a good mix of colours. Haven't counted but think about 30 plants? They are thriving where they are in the partly shaded/sheltered area of the plot. Next year I know I can grow them on the right of the plot where other stuff may struggle. They are going to have a bed of there own and I will make a concerted effort to disbud in 2017!

Not sure if after clock change it will be lighter or darker on an evening, but just in case its darker decided to do as much as I could for the last evening before British wintertime.
Harvested all my apples and pruned all my apple and pear trees back to the main stem. I intend trying to take them with me to plot 24 so this should make them more manageable.
Did the same with the Greenhouse peach for the same reason and hacked back the outdoor grapevine to allow a bit more light into the chicken run.
On plot 24 I dug another two rows of spuds and will sort & wash and store them tomorrow.
I am planning on giving my chooks a bit more run space on my new plot so scoped out and designed in my head the new layout!
Back home, I have just printed out 1st,2nd,3rd and 4th prize certificates for Allotment Pumpkin competition tomorow at !.00pm Also made myself a note to take folding table, bathroom scales for weighing, money for prizes, camera and last but not least Radio, so that i can listen to both Newcastle and Sunderland games while I'm at the plot!

Oh dear - it's darker nights. However it will be lighter earlier so you can make an earlier start in the mornings
Aye, until the morning catch up then we're snookered all ends up.
