    A brick
I fancy one of those polystyrene brick thingies for throwing at the telly when there' carp on!

Its a knack you know, this tangetisation lark.

Watch and learn............Al Capone had a glasing business, he used to get his hoods to go around putting out shopfront windows!

btw some toe rag already beat you to it with the brick scenario. It should be a joy removing the remains of that pane!

No, Just the large broken pane where I had the cuddly tiger stuck in the hole. I felt sorry for him though and rescued him.

        • Took out a few more panes of glass from the wooden greenhouse ready for its move on Sunday Couldn't figure out how to get the side panes out and by that time it was too dark to crawl around on the floor looking for fixing points.
.Transported some of my pantiles from my other plot which i was going to give to someone for nothing from now until AGM time (End of March). For reasons I would rather not discuss this is now not happening!. Was pleased whern I found out because I still have quite a bit of stuff to get off the plot (hence the pantiles!)
Brought an indoor plastic rabbit cage from my other plot and put my spring cabbage seedlings in it to keep the birds off until I decide in which section I am planting them out.

          • Arrived at plot at 9.30am. Unloaded another five scrounged paving flags and a big pile of fencing (I hate being able to see out of the back window of the car anyway!)

Lit the woodburner, made myself a pot of char then got cracking.

I had the rest of the glass out of the greenhouse by 11.30 ready for the big move.Made sure all ground fixings were undone.
Screwed a board across each end of greenhouse so that it could be picked up and moved by two people.

12 noon.....................HELPER!!!! where are you? Decided he must have slept in or have dogsitting problems. Decided to try and move wooden greenhouse myself. Managed to move it about five foot when my helper arrived full of appologies.........bless him! Took two of us less than five minutes to shuffle along and get greenhouse in position on new breezeblock foundation.
Fitted like a glove................you would think someone had measured it!

Thanked helper, said goodbye and got on with tidying area greenhouse had been stood on. Had another brainwave! Because a few panes are broken, and because i just happen to have some stained glass panes buckshe from my house project, I have the rather grand idea of setting said panes in the front facing door and windows.

                  • Horrible night at the plot this evening. Gave the chooks some mixed corn to keep them warm through the night, collected the eggs, chopped some sticks, lit the woodburner, and chopped up some of the old greenhouse base. The base wasn't as rotted as I had assumed and took a bit of effort to break up. Got a few decent logs though and heaped up the woodburner.
Any glass that was broken yesterday I dropped into a large plastic trug for disposal. Had the bright idea of disposing it at the bottom corner of the plot where it can be covered with concrete for the shed base. As I tipped the glass out of the trug I sliced my finger. Anyone who saw me walking around the plot with my arm up in the air to stem the bood flow would have thought I was doing a Black Power or Nazi salute!:rolleyes

I haven't got Basils rubber legs, but apart from that you aint far off! There was also a few choice words about my stupidity and pain. Good job I'm on an end plot away from the houses.
I've got my First Aid refresher soon, so it was good practice anyway! Reminds me, I must get a first Aid kit installed in the summerhouse.

                        • After working outside all day at work in inclement weather I arrived at the plot.

I gradually peeled off each item of clothing as it got wet and finished up getting wet from the inside from the sweat generated from swinging a big hammer. Managed to get about 1/3rd of the old greenhouse base broken up before dampness and darkness stopped play.

A shot of dry weather and enthusiasm is what I need!

It maybe appears so, but I just add what I've done each day to this thread rather than the 'What I did today thread'
I have to go to the allotment each day to sort the chooks anyway, so I may as well do a bit on the plot while I'm there!

Funny how our impressions of Snadger's work habits differ! As I read it, he goes to the plot, lights the stove, has a cup of tea, puts his feet up and has a ponder. Maybe he'll play about with a few slabs or a bit of wood, then he'll go home.
