  • How many people do you grow for?

Just being nosey. We grow just for the two of us, in the back garden.
You guys with allotments etc grow so much - so, how many people do you feed with your crops?

            Just me really.

I have housemates though, so if I get a good crop they tend to get some, and if I get a proper glut it gets shared around friends, and unwary passersby in extreme cases.

My local area is pretty into the whole sharing thing, so it's pretty easy to find homes for unwanted crops, and plants as well for that matter.

The garden feeds 3 of us on a regular basis although my neighbour and family have all had things when there has been enough to share further. I also receive items grown by my family such as plums, apples and pears which we could not easily grow due to having a small garden. We enjoy going foraging for blackberries too. Finding people to trade items with extends the choice
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

Just the two of us here but my daughter and son get whatever is on offer as well. Anything else gets turned into some kind of preserve or is frozen for later use.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

It was the four of us and visitors like my eldest daughters boyfriend, but now she has moved out and in with him so I'm supplying them, plus my sister in law and her three and my Sister and her two girls and their families. Then there is my elderly neighbour and when I get a real glut the Salvation Army lady around the corner takes uses and distributes excess to elderly and others in need.

We grow for three, but happily give extra no family, neighbours and other plot holders.

I grow for me and him, when life's not going pear shaped I grow for the little honesty shop at the end of the road. Spare stuff goes to the neighbors, and guests at the holiday cottages I clean / garden at.

I grow for the two of us. Give extras away but a full sized plot keeps us self sufficient in veggies all year plus fruit for part of the year. Also make preserves for pressies.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

There are 2 of us, but we like to preserve stuff to try and be as self sufficient as poss through the winter.
Naturally we share with friends and family when they come over to eat and I give away pots of jam and chutney to friends and family too!

Two of us and our lodger plus 9 rabbits and 10 chooks. Just wish the four cats were vegetarian! Then any spare is given away to anyone who passes.
