This is my second year of growing carrots with dwarf peas in the same pot & its a good space saving plan. If anyone has similar growing in a tiny space ideas, please tell us! I use a 55cm diameter plastic pot & once the peas are finished cut the dry tops off & leave the roots in there, the carrots will carry on growing for a month or two,I harvested these carrots yesterday. There's also a photo at the end of some carrots amongst leeks in a pot. Do you think its possible to grow parsnips amongst sweetcorn? (I've never grown parsnip, they look quite huge, would there be much soil disturbance for sweetcorn roots?) If the sweetcorn has 12" gaps between each plant, parsnips could fit in maybe? It would be like one parsnip to a square foot?

I have some longish window baskets that I grew sugar snaps at the front and then spring onions, lettuce or radish towards the back. It works well especiall if you are not trying to feed a large family.
Next year I am going to grow climbing frenchies instead of the dwarf ones so I might just try the same idea again. My idea is what wants to go up can also grow down!I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. Thomas A. Edison

Next year I am going to have a go at parsnips and runners in the deep raised bed (1x0.5 meters) as it seems to me that the 'snips' take a while to get going - what do you think Jane?I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. Thomas A. Edison

As stated above we have tiny raised beds but the free parsnip seed tape was wonderful. All of them germinated and I have thinned them out to 4 per row. This means that we have 12 parsnips in all which is enough for us.
Next year I will put some canes up amongst them for the beans/peas etc to see what happens.
There is a pic on the showcase thread of 1 of our snips so you can see that it was not in vain. Have a go!I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. Thomas A. Edison
