  • Tomato plan for next year

As the title says,i was looking at the black opal tomatoes hanging like grapes when a thought came on,here is my plan for some off the smaller cherry types, next year they will be in the poly tunnel,so will have a frame work to tie or run the main stem to,so they can hang down and be see more as per grapes do (the ones you eat that is },it also should leave space to grow underneith thus double some growing space,if they are spaces aprox 30 inch apart, with opersite side of the tunnel planted to go inbetween said space,it should allow plenty of room for them the pass over the top of said tunnel, either from the ground or more benches/tables,here is a rough plan and hope you understand what i mean, another idea has just popped up,why not knock some rough table structures up out of spare wood to stand independently on the boarders, thinking of this now will allow time in the none gardening time for twitchy itchy fingers to work on,they can aldo be supported by a rail from 1 to another to stop any side wobble,

Like your idea Doll. We are just going to stick to 4 hanging baskets of the yummy little yellow ones - hopefully by next year I will remember the name. They grow like little trojans and give loads of fruit, well, they did this year.

You watch, next year we won't have a tom in site.......Oh well never mind.

I think this is a great idea Lottie! Just make sure your pots are adequately secured to stop them tipping over once your plants are laden with fruit - we don't want any snapped stems!
