Windowsill fruit and veg

What fruit and veg have you grown to maturity on your windowsills?

I'm not counting herbs or sprouting seeds in this group as I think most of us have a herb or two and maybe sprouting seeds in the kitchen. But for those who, like me, have no greenhouse, the windowsill is often the only place warm enough to grow some veg.

This year I have lemons -



and sweet peppers (seeds out of a supermarket pepper - wot? buy seeds? me?)

Mmmm, LEMONS! Is that a specific dwarf variety? All the lemon trees I've seen for sale are far too big for a windowsill.

I have grown sweet peppers, also tomatoes and cut and come again lettuce, which tends to get long and leggy but does produce some edible leaves. Other salad greens like mizuna and mibuna can also give small leaves this way - I'm not sure you would call them "mature" though!

I've also managed dwarf french beans and the very dwarf pea "half pint" on the windowsill.

I've no idea of the lemon variety. it was a gift from my brother. probably what has kept it small is that when I got it, it had been wound round that green trellis in much the same way you'd wind a stephanotis or jasmine, so the stem had gone all the way round in a complete circle. That's why it looks one-sided and the stem is curved. Needless to say, it all died back to where it had been forced from the vertical, but luckily the incipient lemons that were on the upright part of the stem remained and grew, as you can see from the photo.

It's now making a concerted bid to become a tree. I may try winding it round again while it's still flexible.......any thoughts?
