Weed killer

By mistake I have put a little weed killer on my fir tree hedge
Causing a part of it to go straw colour
If I cut below the dead part will I save the rest

What weed killer was it? Do you mean a conifer hedge? Is it leylandii or thuja? Leylandii doesn't grow from old e.g. brown wood. I believe thuja is more likely to. Any photos.
