  • a good year

we had the first of our parsnips on sunday and even if I grew it myself , it tasted absolutely brill, started off in the greenhouse (never done that before but it was too bl**** cold for them last spring), not as long as I had hoped, but at about 16-18ins I can live with it, so I have plenty of them for the Christmas, even if we have the outlaws visiting..

Well done, mine were ok, but not many and we've eaten them all, only got some Kale left, we've eaten the rest. Intend to grow more of the autumn/winter stuff next year, designing a pigeon and butterfly proof mini tunnel for the brassicas just now.

When I dug it up last week I had to use a pickaxe to break through 6ins of solid ice and having been away I wasn't expecting such deep icing up, it didn't do the flavour any harm though, just magic..

Nice one, nothing tastes quite like your own grown produce.

I dug these up last week!

The big one looked ropey but it was very tender and delicious roasted. More to come
