Squash and pumpkin variaties

I just had my first home grown Sweet Dumpling and was blown away by its lovely chest nutty flavour. My yield wasn't great but I'm seriously considering making this my desert island squash.

So what would be your desert islands squash or pumpkin and why?

Mine is "Winter Festival". Only downside is I need a meat cleaver to get into them - tough outer skin. Favourite way to cook is cut into chunks and roasted with a sprinkling of thyme and then at the end a few chunks of blue cheese sprinkled on and back in the oven for a few minutes. Yum Yum.

Hard choice, Thelma Sanders squash is my most reliable variety, but for taste it'd be a toss up between Uchiki Kuri and the slightly smaller Celebration.

Fairy squash for me, very much like a butternut but with a richer flavour

At the moment it's Small sugar pumpkin, spaghetti squash
But that might change next year because I'm having a bit of a pumpkin/ squash obsession and going to be growing this lot ( most of which will be new to my garden next year )

Uchi Kuri
Butter bush
Hunter
Sweet dumpling

I've only eaten the UK and sweet dumpling so far. I've gone a bit bonkers on additions for next year too. but maybe I might find some room for some of the suggestions on here

I'd take Tromboncino because it makes me laugh

I can't possibly narrow it down to just 1 - there are 38 varieties nestling in my seed box!

If I can have 3 it would be potimarron for the amazing chestnut flavour, Black Futsu or one of the similar Japanese moschatas for the hazlenuttiness and Flat White Boer for big squashes with a fantastic sweet potato taste. Sucrette and North Georgia Candy Roaster are also fantastic flavour-wise, with the bonus that Sucrette is a c.pepo so my courgettes (or anyone else's on the field!) can pollinate them if their own flowers are a bit shy.

that's another first for next year for me, I didn't add it to my list because I've got him placed in my courgette list along with 4 other varieties. Is that wrong?

I'm gunna be growing both pink and blue banana next year as fancy a change from the little jem and white pumkin I grew this year.

I think of courgettes as little marrows that are eaten fresh. The trombas can be eaten fresh or stored - and they're funnier than courgettes (which only make me laugh when they're misshapen or conjoined)

Maybe I should fill my garden with funny veg - out with the boring and ordinary

The only squash I've grown every year is Spaghetti. Not particularly for flavour, I just like the spaghetti effect... I don't think I've met a pumpkin I didn't like though.

Kabocha for me, lovely chestnut flavour. Just need seeds for next year
