Do people re-use the capillary matting and if so how do they go about sterilizing it for next year?

at the moment I just have mine in the greenhouse drying, they are absolutely covered in roots

Yes I re-use them. Dry them off, pull off any surplus root, don't bother sterilizing. If you think they are sufficiently revolting to throw away, don't buy pre-cut replacements. Buy a roll of capillary matting and cut them out from a template made from an old one. Much cheaper.

Likewise. Last year roots blocked the pipe between my quad grows, so it's worth keeping an eye on the water levels in the troughs.

Chris, as these are for the Hozelock growbag self watering system, which I use 4 of each year, very much doubt they would be anyway big enough to do the job in hand.

Think I'd be inclined to go with "Lady P's" suggestion!
