Thank you will try photobucket. If that don't work I will log out and log in as another user but it will still be moi!!!!

Looks like it's my phone it's doesn't like uploading new pics

        Looking good Deano

I have potted most of mine on at this stage, although some still to do...Some are too tall for the lights now, so have moved them out from under them..
        Still struggling to post pics

        • Talking about Chilli's. Can anybody on here tell me where I can buy Chilli Focus plant feed please.

          • Some plants starting to accelerate with growth now, and I'm starting to separate seedlings and move them up to larger pots. Numex Sandia probably largest plant so far.

Overwintered plants doing well, and small fruits already ripening on the Orange Habaneros. I will pick them soon and hope that will stimulate further flowering and development of larger fruits.

The Turbo Alberto cross was the only overwintered plant not to drop leaves and is now growing fast. It went in the unheated greenhouse a couple of days ago and I'm expecting it cope ok with night time temperatures.

I got mine from my local garden centre but they only sell the small bottles. The hydro shop has the large bottles of it. Probably easiest to buy online but I prefer to support bricks and mortar shops when possible.

                • The first of my plants I've grown from seed this season to set fruit is... dun dun duuuunnn... Aji Omnicolor.

Has anyone grown this before? I don't really know what to expect so I have questions.

                  1. Do they take a long time to ripen? How long's a long time?
                  2. How hot are they?
                  3. Does the heat increase as they ripen or are they OK eaten unripe?

The runner up in the race from seed to pod set goes to Peter Pepper. Too early to tell just how anatomically correct they will be although so far they look rather deformed. The bronze medal looks like it might go to the Reaper. It had three flowers in the first cluster; one has dropped, one doesn't look to be setting yet, but the other one seems to have a green swelling starting in the middle of the flower, so fingers crossed! Choc Hab (which I might be giving away tomorrow!) has flowers starting to open, as does Sugar Rush peach. At the moment I'm tickling them all with the same cotton bud so won't be saving seeds from any resulting pods (although it's a right mixture of 3 species so could give interesting crosses.)

All the overwintered plants have pods. NotScotch has loads of pods set already, plus plenty more flowers coming, although I know they will take a long time to ripen compared with the Superchilli and Gusto Purple, which I'm already harvesting.

And it's only early April. Looking like it's going to be a good season, although I'm scared to say that in case I jinx it and disaster strikes.

I thought you were growing them indoors under lights? I would leave them in a warm place in the house (e.g. airing cupboard or back on the radiator you germinated them on) until the seed leaves emerge. They don't want the temperature fluctuations caused by the moves between different environments until they are established.

Some of mine took another 3-4 days from when the root appeared (in tissue) to when the shoot made it up out of the soil. As soon as the seed leaves appear, give them as much light as you can but try to keep them at a steady temperature, ideally in the 20s. They're quite fragile little things while they're babies.

                      • ok. overnight on windowsill above window. wake up and stick in light box untill sun hits the GH then back into box for a couple hours till i go to bed (didnt we say GH better than box in this heat?)

if moving about isnt working then ill leave in the grow box thing

I use airpots SP, and try to keep the plants on the small side as they're either in a mini wooden greenhouse or under growlights in winter.

Even a 3 litre air pot can give good results, although I imagine some varieties would find this too small. Here is my Cherry Bomb in its 3 litre airpot (taken this morning):

It's a very vigorous plant and seems to do well pretty much whatever conditions it is in (except it didn't like leaf spot very much!). I think it will be able to support about 30 pods at one time, or more, in that pot. It's currently setting pods and still producing new flowers, so I will find out shortly how well it can do in that pot.

I grew a Jalapeno in a 6 litre air pot and here it is at a mature size (on the left):

It was quite compact due to being grown under growlights for most of its life. Just before I took that picture I harvested about 50 pods to give to people as a winter treat, it was Christmas time.

If you plan to grow an even larger plant with plenty of cropping I would imagine a 10 litre+ pot would be ideal.

For me, the only tricky thing with airpots is the watering. I find it best to water from the top, and start off giving a small drop to wet the compost, say 100-200ml, otherwise the water can come out of the holes in the side. Then I go around watering my other plants.

Once I've finished going around all the pots, I go back to the first airpot, and give it a bit more water, say 200ml at a time. I do this a few times depending on how much water I want to give them. For a good drink I wait until the water is draining out of the bottom. It takes roughly 15 minutes to water my four airpots completely, but when I am watering other plants at the same time it doesn't really make the watering process take much longer overall.

                            • Anyone given their young chillies the chop yet? I've got three 'Ring of Fire' that are about 8" tall, all have split into three stems at the top so I'm wondering if trimming/topping is necessary?

                              • These of my superhots they have been growing under lights.

I find that because my lights are so bright they seem to grow squat and bushy, almost a bit stunted, I think next year ill halve the amount of tubes on
