What I did today - 2017

Well, 5 out of the 50 or so had given up for various reasons.
So, moved 4 sheds off abandoned plots or from one plot to another in a kind of serial upgrading process. (I'll admit I had some help with this )
Fitted guttering on one shed.
Moved 3 compost bins onto new comers plot and old timers. Filched compost from aforementioned bins for *my* plot!
Got given 5 bottles of blackcurrant wine.
Bit achy now...

Somehow I've got about 10 crocus coming up in my lawn,I don't know if I like them there or if I should get them out & into the border,they look quite good except when you accidentally stand on them. I wonder if a mouse did it,thinking it had found a pea (my peas were near the crocus I planted) & then the mouse has just thrown the crocus on the grass on its way back to the compost bin,where my cat runs to every night,I think there is a mouse there).

Any top tips for this? I want to get mine shifted to the other end of the plot this month. Take it apart or shift all in one piece?

Am also achey. I've fed and mulched all the fruit bushes with old ash, BFB, big heavy sacks of rotted manure. And by 'eck that 6X stuff stinks to high heaven! It's still too wet to do much on the allotments though. The main path is rapidly turning into a mudslide.

Wild garlic is peeping up in the hedge though, and it looks like the clumps have bulked up a lot. Yay!

Too dreich to do anything outside today, so I pricked out my chillies and aubergines into their first pots, and sowed a few bits and bobs.

If you can get beams under your shed to lift it rather than dismantle is best. If you've got enough help you might be able to do it by 6 pairs of hands around the base.

Ordered Asparagus crowns, rhubarb and gooseberries and sowed most of the seeds for my plot this year (8 seed trays with 15 different seeds).

Hopefully they'll be ok in the little "grow-house" I have against the south-facing back wall of the house.

Measured and drew up a diagram of the plot and tried to make a sensible plan for how to plant everything. Changed the plan about a dozen times. Finally think I've got it sorted.

Dug out some flower seeds for my daughter to sow with her brussel sprouts in her part of the plot. Apparently she only wants to grow purple flowers because they are best for attracting bees.

Following yesterday's shed shufle shenanigans, I've overdone it again today. Moved 20 odd big/heavy paving slabs from neighbour's house to plot. To wet to drive across the field to the site so back and forth with an hand trolley. Helped site and secure the ropiest of the sheds we moved yesterday. Bought a blackberry for £3 from aldi.
I'm soaking in the bath now

Went to the Hill this afternoon dispite light rain (which turned heavier through the afternoon) and

• Dismantled the shed - it is beyond ropy, and is destined for the tip. Loaded most of it in the back of the car.
  
• Moved the bench to the slab where the shed was - it will have a nice view.
  
• Started to clear what is euphemistically called the 'wildlife area' and waded into the bramble which is intent on world domination. Also a load of overgrown - er - green stuff. Grasses of all sorts mainly, and chickweed and sticky susan.
• Dug some carolus potatoes up and a couple of leeks for tea.

Hot bath when I got home!

My GYO offer blueberries arrived today so i nipped to the plot in my lunch break to unpack them. They're small, but look like nice specimens and in great condition, so for the price of the postage, I'm well chuffed.
Sowed a row of carrots in my tiny raised bed (first time using seed tape, so easy!).
Moved some potted daffs out of the cold frame as they've outgrown it.
Ate my sandwich in the polytunnel - so nice with the sun out! Didn't want to come back to work.

I received mine last week Bario - I was very impressed with how good they looked, and they're starting to leaf up nicely!

Having rolled up the couch grass infested paths at the weekend and realised that all the bed surrounds were rotted away leaving me with a blank (muddy) canvas, I have been planning starting from scratch with my own layout.
