Dug over a section of the garden and planted out my Rocket potatoes., Pulled out weeds and coach grass which had such long roots as the garden hadnt been dug since the autumn.
Helped hubby put replacement glass back in the greenhouse and then gave it a bit of a tidy up but my wooden potting table is still wet so it will need another day or two to dry out.
Absolutely shattered now but very satisfied with my days work and the sun shone all day.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
Last few days, sowed more toms, sowed tomatillo & more spring onions. Emptied a few pots from the gh over the flower borders. Put turam (sp?) over bank where squashes are going to go. Found the first signs of life on 2 of the 3 new rhubarbs Started mulching 2nd raspberry bed with grass clippings (mowed lawn as well). Panicked over when I'm going to find the time to sow everything that needs sowing.........
Trod down (did a little Apache war dance actually) the loose soil on this year's 2x3m brassica bed and added a mulch of mushroom compost. Topped that with a couple of barrows of rotten leaves and dumped a couple of pallets on top to keep it all in place.
Ah! life`s grand sometimes, had a very nice day at work for once, driving around the lovely country side in my truck with grand views, Daffodils, Primroses and still a few Snowdrops hugging the verges, lovely white blossoms on the trees, and after that got home from work, went straight up to the allotment, potted out the Marmande toms, watered the peas, must get them into their beds! placed old plastic water tanks over the Rhubarb, tidy up......a bit.
Home for some Lasagne with cucumber....ah! nice.
Girls are like flowers, a little attention every day and they`ll blossom.
Finally planted out my raspberry canes that were delivered mid January! Hopefully sitting in a bucket for two months hasn't set them back too much - i could see little white shoots emerging along some of the roots.
Yesterday in the glorious sunshine wearing shorts and t-shirt I weeded and applied top dressing which consists of used growbag compost from last year mixed with growmore and fish blood and bone fert to my two rows of asparagus which now look epic and are ready for this years harvest.
Then tackled my strawberry bed taking out the main plants and putting onto plastic sheets, removing the rooted and unrooted runners to be potted on in pots at home and then after digging feeding and weeding replaced the plants back in the bed ready for this years bumper crop.
The day that Microsoft makes something that doesn't suck ...
"Southern Road Trip" Done, back home, and must admit it went well and wasn't as bad as I was thinking it was gunna be!
The "Deed Done" a very pleasant day under the circumstances, but tell ya what, the B n B I accidentally came across was actually "Awesome" which did take a little stress of the event away!
A place I would actually deem as "I've died n gone to heaven"
"Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit, wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad"
Potted on amish paste to ms, gave away a couple of roma vf toms, cleared the last of the winter radish ready for a weed and then sowing something at the weekend
