  • Hallelujah - first two buckets of Charlottes are planted! Also, indoors I have sown tomatoes, sprouts and kale.the latter two being an experiment to see if we can grow them in pots.
Started off some flowers from seed as well, my little blowaway greenhouse will be busy soon. It's only got 4 shelves I think, so will be a tight fit.
Nearly forgot, made up a large trough with 3 Stargazer lilies
All these things and the ones that follow will be nurtured by me and then handed over to hubby for feeding and watering.
    Good isn't it?
I may have a beautifully decorated and newly furnished lounge. But there's always room for propagators......

    • Sowed 2 small beds with Beetroot. Sowed my Parsnip bed up. Hoe'd over the remaining beds. Tidied up the reed fence that had taken a battering from Doris t'other week. Put some CFB's on kitchen roll last night & a couple have germinated already. Could do with a couple of dry days so I can give the grass it's first haircut of the year.

                  • Went to the Hill today with the intention of emptying an relocating the final two daleks, planting the spuds and moving the bean frame. Instead,
                    • I thoroughly weeded the front bed which I have now decided will house parsnips and carrots. Note to self: buy parsnips and carrots

                    • Laid two more sections of drainage pipe in the main trench, and backfilled with gravel and rubble. Now that I can walk across my plot comfortably for the first time in a year, I can get on with the central blueberry bed and the surrounding paths, and hopefully start to see the design in my head take shape!

Realised that I've been poisoning my early sowings at home in the greenhouse by using a watering can that I used to apply weedkiller to the lawn last Autumn... who would've thought that the contamination would last all over winter in a dry watering can?

                      • I started to dig dandelions out of the back garden this weekend - turns out its heavy clay so it took me some considerable time to tackle about 6. Then realised that the entire lawn is actually dandelions so there'll be nothing left. We're planning on digging up this garden at some point so it might wait until then for now.

Other than that lots of mulching with the new shredder we've acquired. I now have space for my potatoes, although ran out of time to get them in.

                        • Yesterday - went to the plot and prepared 2 beds for beans - many, many beans! Today, had the assistance of a 2 and half year old to plant seeds. But we planted lobelia, sweet peas, yellow alyssum.

                            • Got back from work this morning to meet the postie – he brought be a couple of packets including one containing Red, White and Purple Dahlias.

These have been sowed into three pots which I’ll prick out later on when ready. I also sowed some seeds for the Babington Leeks. Pulled a couple of pots of Yacon out the propagator so it’s now 16 polypots showing growth – that’s over 50% in a week, definitely quicker than last year.

Potted on some sprouts and calabrese

My Tomatillos and Cape gooseberries are up so they're out the prop and under the lights.

This gave a bit of space in the prop so I sowed some Litchi Tomatoes.
