    • I visited the allotment between 7:15 - 10:00 and painted the shed, the extension panels to the shed, the post for the new comfrey pipe, the walking onion raised bed scaffold boards. Came home made four Runner Beans gallows brackets and painted them ready for taking to Mill Green Allotment - Plot 1A to assemble and erect.

Photos as a full explanation can be found at Alans Allotment: Runner Bean Gallows Bracket

      • Some tomatoes will be staying overnight in the greenhouse for the first time tonight.

Hope they'll be ok. Tricky time of year, but the tomatoes will probably cope better than chillies at this stage. And I definitely need the room on the windowsill indoors

          • Only visited the plot this morning to pick up eggs for inlaws and a comfy chair for an afternoons fishing.

Didn't use the chair but lost three fish, caught three fish and put them back and caught a bigger one which I kept for mine and OH's breakfast in the morning.

Various things have happened in 'real life' and I've left seed packets on table on plot, I've left the door to the GH open and the coldframe open... oh dear.

Stil,l all family members safe so could be worse.. might be a different story tomorrow

                • Got to the plot early this morning as the weather looked so inviting! Pulled up and composted the bolted pak choi and salsify in the roots bed, and dug in some bfb.
Limed and dug over brassica bed two, then gave it a thorough firming with my size 10s.
Filled two more potato bags and planted up with Charlottes.
Gave the blueberries a quick watering.
Also potted on two of my chillies in the greenhouse before I left, and put some pots of compost in the prop to warm up for my courgette sowings tonight.
                  He-Pep!

                  • Put up the supports for the first set of broad beans that are 12-18" tall now.

                    Did more weeding

Potted on some tomatoes in the greenhouse.

Sowed the first runner beans indoors.

My chilli, sweet pepper and squash seedlings are taking over the house now - can any of these be moved to the unheated greenhouse yet ? EDIT - it went down to -2 last night !

                    • Planted a few rows of Red Baron Onions and widened a bed (sick of trying to keep grass down) then watered the patch of earth to try and soften it up to dig. Not had much rain for ages.

                          • This afternoon I planted out some lettuce which I have grown from seed. Blonde Lolla Rossa.
Planted out some spring onions as well.
Did other bits and pieces like weeding, emptying pots planting and transplanting other stuff.
Re arranging my whole garden as my poor cat has not been seen for the past three weeks.
Putting away all the wire, netting and other bits I used to keep him off the plants.
We had him from birth and he was slmost 14, so very sadly missed.

And when your back stops aching,

You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.
