Last night will probably be the last wheelbarrow full of harvest this season since we lifted the main crop spuds. The row traversed double dig and no dig so was an interesting result. In this season (first for the patch being no dig) the tubas in the composted and double dug area were large, clear of damage and easy to lift although they seemed deeper under the surface. In the no dig area planted through cardboard the tubas were smaller, not so deep and subject to a lot of slug damage in some patches. On first evidence no dig was not the best, but if I'd lifted they 4 weeks ago would they have been better? It's been a wet year so did that have an impact? The patch with the worst slug damage was it chance that it was in the no dig area?
Also the last of the raspberries, sweetcorn, outdoor tomatos (probably) plus more carrots, a parsnip, some beetroot, a sweetheart cabbage and some curly kale.

I grew tatties through a straw and cardboard mulch last year and they were a write off - a combination I think of the mulch inhibiting the germinating shoots, and gaps under the cardboard providing a perfect slug-friendly environment.He-Pep!
