What tomato varieties are you growing in 2017

Bit of a long shot this, but I grew some yellow oval cherry tomatoes last year that did really well.

Trouble is, I bought them as small plants from the village show, and I've got no idea what they were.

I'd like to try them again, so is there a common variety that they are likely to be ?

They were definitely yellow, not orange, and oval shaped rather than round cherry ones.

But when you say "Oval" Could that have been "Pear Shaped" as "Yellow Pear" seems to be a latest fave hitting the scenes of late!

Just going to try the one bush variety.
I like Sungold (to eat) in with a mix of others - last year we also liked Rosella and I have seed left for this year. I also grew Sweet Aperitif which was good but not memorable!

Am I the only person who wasnt the least bit impressed by sungold? Far too thin skinned, most burst or split upon picking.
Im going to try red pear again this year, and principe borghese, which is great for sauces. Will also try a couple of the sweet n neat ones again if I can find seed, as I remember them being prolific and easy to look after. Roll on pay day & I can go seed shopping....

Honest you are missing the beat with "Sungold"

My kids n grandkids eat em like sweets n can't get enough of em!

So have to accommodate a little more room to grow a few more plants to fulfil there desire!

I often grow the cocktail yellow pear, it's pretty prolific if you like yellow tomatoes

It could be one of several varieties you should have saved seeds!
It's worth trying the yellow pear that Deano has mentioned or perhaps try Ildl, that's a yellow oval Tom, it's like an over large grape.

Hmm, same here! But I'm not keen, it's too sweet, almost artificial and it doesn't go well with a dry white wine

Orange Russian

Peardrop is a yellow tomato for hanging baskets which I grow each year - love it.

You could cover it with netting and make a huge fruit/brassica cage.

I will be aiming for around 30 different tomato varieties.

As the chillies germinate and get removed from the propagator, the tomatoes are going in to replace them
