  • How much is too much?

I have just had a load of sheep/goat manure delivered. A visiter seemed to think that I had too much piled on the beds for next year.
    So...How much is too much?

Can you still see over it?

I personally don't think you can have too much well rotted manure as a mulch. I usually use it about 6 inches thick!

Ask your visitor too much for what Phreddy. Probably too much if you want to grow carrots there, but otherwise it will all wash in and do good. I can't see how there can be too much.

It is about 10cm or 4" in old money. My visitor is a professional tomato, cabbage and probably other things, grower. Language is the problem, he is a local and we don't have the 'detailed' words to converse.
All my gardening books are still in a lock-up awaiting delivery here.

Thanks to all grapes, BTW mine are beginning to turn black.

I suggest you just put a smug smile on your face....then look concerned...then ask what they suggest you do next year!!!!

4 inches deep seems OK to me. It will soon rot down, wash in, or whatever.
