Yes I am. Bought them yesterday and laid them out on a sheet of lining from an apple box in the conservatory.
Having said that, I also have some salad potatoes chitting in the cold greenhouse and they are doing well. I bought them at Christmas and they were not used up so I left them outdoors and now they are sprouting as well so I will plant these in containers later in the year.
And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

Yep, am fully in the chitting party. Alouette & PFA have been at it since December, Charlottes and Lady Christls are just joining them. Can't wait!http://mudandgluts.com - growing fruit and veg in suburbia

I bought some Lady Christl and Charlotte at the beginning of January and they have been chitting in a vegetable rack on my cloakroom windowsill ever since. I will get Desiree and Sarpo Mira shortly and they will be put to chit in the utility room - I just have to finish eating the tomatoes so that I have space.A life is like a garden. I said to myself don't buy potatoes early and do all that chitting, I failed completely when I visited Wyevale to look at their sale, and bought a bag of Estima and will be collecting the chitting mushroom trays lined with egg boxes from the allotment on the weekend.
I'm sure it makes little difference but it has to be done.

Great, I'm glad I'm not the only one to start. I was thinking it was a little early.sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

(they replied to someone's tweet about why they never bother chitting any more - thought this might be a useful nugget)http://mudandgluts.com - growing fruit and veg in suburbia

I've noticed that of all the varieties I have tried, Sarpo Mira is by far the slowest to start sprouting and takes the longest to chit.A life is like a garden. Perfect moments can be had, but not preserved, except in memory. LLAP. - Leonard Nimoy

I've noticed that on this forum a lot of grapes use supermarket potatoes or similar leftovers. When I frequented some other forum the advice was always to avoid doing that and always use proper seed potatoes to help avoid disease. A chap from the 'Potatoe Board' (summat like that) would often appear on such threads...
Just sayin'sigpic
