Bamboo Grass

I am extending my Vegetable plot this year and the area i am extending into has a thick patch of some kind of bamboo/ ornamental grass.



I don't usually use weedkiller but I gave it two doses of strong roundup last year to absolutely no visible effect. I was wondering if anyone had come across it and how one can get rid of it. The root system seems very extensive.

It looks like a bamboo to me and the only answer is to dig, dig and dig again. Best of luck!!!!!

I had something similar looking which took over a patch of my garden and even came up between the paving slabs on the patio. Really the only advice is dig it out, keep an eagle eye out for any new shoots and dig those out too. I attacked anything that grew between the stones with an old kitchen knife. It took a while but it did eventually stop appearing.

I had this problem. The bamboo took over and I thought I was never going to get rid of it. I did as others on here are saying...dig, dig and keep digging. It nearly killed me. One day when I was out my dear husband got a guy with a mini digger to come in and when I got home the bamboo was gone.

I have a couple patches of bamboo, which I keep tidy with hedgetrimmer
Can't dig it out, so I just butcher it when it annoys me
