Hi, bit of a veggie novice so please bear with me - just put some broad beans in a bag with compost with a little warmth. I plan to pot up when root appears. At that stage go they go into a cold frame/frost free greenhouse or do they still need warmth and if so, for how long and what temp? Many thanks

Broad beans are pretty tough:

Down here in N. Devon I've been known to direct sow them about now and they've been ok - I would have thought that unless we get some very cold weather or you are very far North you would be alright to put them in a frost free GH already.Last edited by Baldy; 07-02-2017, 04:26 PM.sigpic

I planted 20 seeds the other day and put in the greenhouse (poly tunnel type not glass) and roots have come out already (when I say the other day it could be a week or 2, can't remember exact).
I'm in Berkshire, had a couple of frosty mornings but they seem fine so far412% of statistics are made up.
