Hi guys, I got some perennial onion seed from hsl as part of my package this year. I've grown onion from seeds before and have 5 Batun seeds germinated but struggling to figure out what to do now, pot on (and then later plant) individually or as a clump?

No one appears to know the answer to your question.
If it was me, I would keep them seperate and grow as you would normal onions. That way you will see if they bunch naturally once planted out.
Just as an aside I had welsh onions (which appear to be similar) on my plot when i got it. I gave them all away. The onion flavour was way to mild for my taste and using them like spring onions they were I felt 'slimy'.
If you've grown them from seed you will want to try them when ready anyway so good luck and i hope you enjoy eating them.

Hmmm... thought i replied to this yesterday. Not sure why it isn't here.... anyway my apologies.
Thanks Snadger and MB, welsh onions is another name for them, and I got them via HSL, I was hoping to use them for cooking more than salads, so oriental style stuff, so hopefully it won't matter so much about the sliminess. I'm growing actual spring onions too, just for salads, so won't be a total loss if they don't work.Comment
