I have a pile of seed packets lying on top of my chitting spuds, some packets in a biscuit tin somewhere and some stuffed into a ducket next to my computer. Not very organised I know and not helpful to anyone ...............but there you have it, and it works for me!

I had the bright Idea of using a clocking in card rack pillaged from work. That was a failure though as the packets kept slipping down the back and were nigh on impossible to retrieve.

As a founder member of the Disorganised Seed Hoarder Club mine are, at the moment...........in a plastic storage box (a small one), a biscuit tin, piled on top of the fridge (probably more than a few down the back) and scattered over the top shelf in the hall cupboard.

I have tried so hard to organise in the past but the concept does not suit my randomly functioning brain.

The downside is I forget alot of stuff and the upside is that when I start mooching around I find seeds I forgot I had e.g looking for my tom seeds and finding out that I have 18 different varieities most of which I don't remember ordering.

I use a photo album and put the packets in backwards so I can read the back of the packet and see what it is and when it needs to be sown without taking them out of the pouches.

OK to add to the sadness, when the seed migrate to the little zippy bags, I scan the front and the back of the pack and have them in a folder on my computer so I can always read what was on the back of the original pack. I also make new labels for the little zippy bags.

VC it gives me something to do in the winter months or when I can't get to the allotment when its raining and if I'm more organised I may just be able to keep up with what I should be doing then the excrement hits the fan and it's all sowing watering looking after seedlings potting on whilst trying to catch up with the actual digging and weeding and formation of the new beds on the new allotment.

So in short it supports my illusion that I have control and I'm ready. Just had an email that the Asparagus crown are on their way and I have not got their bed ready yet! I was hoping for 14 days after the end of march not before - Doh!

Open packs go into small zippy bags in the plastic boxes in alphabetical order - I now have three boxes of tomato seeds and Three toolboxes not two. The unopened seeds and seeds for next year and the year after bought in the Wyevale sales are grouped together and sow by year.
                          Very organised Cadders.

                          Kind Regards.............Rob
