Oh no, I'm out of my depth here, it's all too technical, I just plant them and hope. Checked on the big lad in the compost heap and the embryonic fruit has yet to be pollinated so still relying on crossed fingers.

Great stuff still watching mine to see if it's going to make it. The plant looks good but don't know if the fruit was pollinated.
Mrs B wants to call it Hutch, because it's growing in rabbit poo..

You know, my first thought was overfeeding, too. :-/

My jack o lanterns are vining beautifully, but no fruit set yet. I haven't found a day when I had both a male and female flower open to help anything along... The French varieties seem to be coming along a bit better now, too, but no fruit set as yet.

                        • Humphreys baby is growing very nicely. But I noticed some jelly type stuff on him this morning. Anyone got any ideas what it is ? And any idea what I should do about it ? Wipe it off?

He's just a bit smaller than a football now ( just in case you were wondering )

                          • Awwww, Humphey-Babyyyyyy.... *strokes*

I had that stuff on some of my courgettes last year, SP, you just reminded me. I think it's just a natural excretion as a by-product from growing fast. I'd leave it well alone, myself, but I'm happy to be contradicted by someone who knows better.
