It's so exciting!!! Humphrey might be having a baby! ( hopefully a bl@@dy big one )http://mudandgluts.com - growing fruit and veg in suburbia

I'm no Pro but for a beast it one per plant, so as long as one is looking promising sacrifice the other.. most people have back ups on another plant.. depends how big you want big to be lol, personally on my pumpkins im going to let nature decide but on my giant marrows im going to set one per plant and sacrifice anything else to try and get a whopper, did you use giant seed from something mahoosive?

I didn't go with special seeds as this is my first attempt. Also because of the experimental growing in a big pot and the inside outside thing that is going on. So Humphrey is just a hundred weight available from anywhere.
To be honest he's bigger than last years hundred weight already ( fruit & plant ), so as far as I'm concerned my little experiment is work. It's all very exciting

I will be following your progress, as its a bit like my quest for elusive big marrows, just want to see how big and daft I can grow one.. now the plants have taken off I might start a thread to show the journey
anything over 50lb and I will consider it a success, thats only small for a marrow so only setting the bar low this year

Giant marrow thread............do it, do it!
I'm also setting the bar very low for my pumpkin, I'll be happy with anything over 20kg ( what's that in old money? About 40lb? ). Obviously I'd be very very happy with bigger, but baby steps! And if this summer doesn't show up soon, I'll be amazed if I get 2kg !!!!

Elvira and Murgatroyd are a bit bigger, but still no sign of any fruit or really large leaves. I am watering daily and about to go a little waily waily from being so behind!http://mudandgluts.com - growing fruit and veg in suburbia

So I've been given a pumpkin plant. Apparently the seed came from something called "Matt's Monster" last year...
Would be nice to at least get a decent sized one as I've only ever grown "Jack be little""Bulb: potential flower buried in Autumn, never to be seen again."
