Is it too early to sow peas direct?

Got some hurst greenshaft peas, is it too early to sow them direct? im in surrey

I dont want to do gutter methos as I havent got the space in the greenhouse

Cover the soil, where you want to plant them, with polythene/plastic sheet to warm it up.

Then in a couple of weeks you can sow the seeds, then recover with plastic until the seeds are up.

I've planted some direct - but I've cut the bottoms off plastic bottles and half buried them around the peas, sort of mini cloches. I've sown douce provence, they're sprouting happily!
