  • A Kale yard

I want to grow a Kale yard! Not in the Scots sense of a vegetable garden but in the VC sense of a "yard" full of kale (or tall cabbages).
They will be tall - a kale forest. Above the heads of puppies and chooks to stop them grazing but, once established I'll happily share. Tough bottom leaves for them, succulent young leaves for me. Sounds fair.
Those of you who've been around for a while will know about my weakness for growing kale http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...light=assorted
Time for another nutty kale-induced thread

Go to it VC - I like to read about your mad plans!

I'm hoping to have a go with Kale this year VC, just found out that the GG loves it, raw or cooked
It will have to be in pots though ......

Great idea VC, you mean literally a square yard? How many plants? And which varieties? I have some 'tall Kale' and some German sounding ones that you sent me at the seedling stage now.

Thanks for all your Nutty enthusiasm

Bario, not a literal square yard - just an enclosed space - not sure where yet!

I sent you seeds from these monsters and they're about to flower again.
Look at all the side shoots on them! Guess what happened next?

If it works, I'll get a head start on sowing seeds

While I'm here, the Daubenton grown from HSL seeds that, they say, rarely flowers, is doing it again!

Have you got Jersey Kale to provide a canopy layer?
Just Kales or will you be including collards and couves?

Whatever I can find that's tallish. Haven't had a rummage through the seeds yet.
