  • Upside down leeks

Any ideas why 90% of my leeks are germinating upside down? I've only got 2 coming up the right way .
They're Bulgarian giant and Musselburgh sown in 40 cell trays, only 4 or 5 seeds to a cell, if that helps.

Is that Isle of Mull in Australia?
Otherwise, sorry I have no idea.

Feed the soil, not the plants.

How odd, never heard of that before. Do the seeds have a up and a down side?

Maybe you have compacted the soil/compost above them and they are having to force there way through?

They won't go green until they see daylight and photosynthesis kicks in.

I've had spring onions do that - no idea why. It doesn't bode well for their survival though I'm afraid.
