The seeds in the plastic baggie look exactly like watermelon seeds. The one in your other photo wasn't as clear.

Those ebay pics aren't all of the same thing. In the first lot of 4 pics together, the bottom left one shows cucamelons but the other 3 pics show something else that's looking more like a very small watermelon. The other pictures of fruit in the row show cucamelons, but the leaves look like watermelon leaves.

When I goggled "thumb watermelons" all the information that I got seems to come from China. Some descriptive articles just show pictures of cucamelons with correct descriptions of them, so it seems like just a new name for marketing them (Cucamelon isn't their original name either.)

But other times, when seeds are being advertised, the pictures of cucamelons are mixed with pictures of what are probably watermelons photoshopped to make them look smaller and oval shaped. And their insides are in watermelon colours - mainly red but some show yellow and white ones too - and claim that the seeds will give you fruit in four different colours. Those coloured ones also have black seeds arranged like they are in watermelons.

Watermelons don't have green flesh but cucamelons only come in green. Their seed colour and arrangement is different as well. So it looks like a pure con to sell watermelon seeds at high prices. I don't want to post any links because I'd be helping to promote their con, but you can find them yourselves if you do the same as I did.

Nooo, don't keep us in suspense that long. I want to see what the leaves are like, and whether the real cucamelon seeds germinate eventually. I love investigations and that one was very interesting, so thanks to you too

I found some cucamelon seeds yesterday in my Cucumbers and Melons seed box so I suppose I should give them a try too.

Mystery seeds....interesting thread to follow!...yep-do please keep us updated, they may be something completely different and yummy to eat!

Thing is, although I know noting about these plants, my first impression was ' How can such a small fruit produce such a large seed?'

These are the brown Chinese ones! They like the light, have to rotate em on the windowsill quite often
