A fairly stupid potato question, but I really don't know

Just uncovered last years spud bed to find 4 Or 5 growing that I'd missed. Dug them up to put into potato grow bags. Some I didn't dig deep enough so I've got plants with roots but no seed potato. Will they still produce or do they need the seed potato to still be attached?

Told you it was stupid sorry.

I've grown spuds from broken off chits - purely experimental, of course
    Yours should work better!

You can grow spuds from peelings so all long as you have left some peel behind with an eye, I think it will grow.

I've got broken off chits growing in my spare compost bags - they're barely even in the soil, not protected from frost and they're happy as larry. Typical isnt it

Seed potatoes will have more energy, sometimes bits of tatties might not do well in their first year, I have left these and the second year got a decent crop, usually when I've thrown compost onto an area not planted with anything that first year. I often have planted my bean trench with compost on the green side and peelings have sprouted with tiny tops, not harvested them and found a better crop second time around.

Out of all the True Potato Seed I've started I've managed to get one plant. Grown from seed they have no tattie as a nutrient store so yours should grow ok as a slip SP.
