Lavender does best on a free draining soil although it can grow on heavy soil like clay well if you add some grit so the roots are not constantly sitting in wet. It likes a position in full sun as well.LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

Can I ask what your reason for wanting to grow Lavender is? If it's for fragrance then fine but if it's to attract pollinators, you need to grow crops that need pollinating. Onions & Carrots do not need pollinating so Lavender would not help.sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”
