What confuses me is that often, weather conditions tend to get the blame but isn't it strange that different folk are having problems with different crops.............that can't be down to the weather.............can it?

The last of the frost wiping/ reducing set fruit.
A lot of my onions from seed. First lot were patchy, second lot still don't want to play and most of the seed was fresh.
I was late doing the bb - human error
There is probably more that I have just accepted as part and parcel

Getting seeds from k*ngs seeds to actually germinate appear to be an issue here, and when my iceberg lettuces from them do germinate, it's obvious they are a butterhead type.

          Useless company.

I've had compost problems too - patchy germination and lots of struggling seedlings. Those that are surviving are refusing to grow.

Very odd - I've always used verve and never had a problem, maybe just a bad batch?

I've also had a complete failure with parsnip germination.
A few other problems, but mostly self inflicted
( lack of space due to over sowing everything )

My parsnips haven't grown yet either. Had a lousy year last year as well.

I chitted my parsnips on damp kitchen paper in a plastic bag. Got about 50% germination and planted the seeds out individually. Good method for my 15 seeds might not be so great if you want a whole row of the things!

fon - mist the plants with water regularly. Cucumbers like the humidity and red spider mites don't.

Lots of rain, no rain, lots of rain, no rain. Poor allotment bit that was not dug last looks like the Grand Canyon.

Broadies and peas almost all rotted instead of germinating. Well, the second batch of broadies (the fresh seed) did, the first batch (some I found at lurking in a tatty paper bag at the bottom of the seed tin) was fine

Oh, incidentally, my parsnips had great germination this year- shame I sowed 'em a week before I found out I'd be moving away in August and won't be there to harvest 'em really!

I had to keep making sowings of Purple Artichokes - in the end I have sowed 30 seeds just to get 5 seedlings up *grump*
Same here! Jacks Magic; This year the majority of veg potted on is struggling with this brand.

Healthier plants are in two other branded composts.
