  • Runner beans

Planted my second lot of runner beans in pots. The first seeds rotted in the pots and this second planting after two weeks does not seem to be doing anything. I always thought beans were the easiest seeds to grow. The pots are in the kitchen windowsill. Any advice?

I put mine into damp compost and covered it with clingfilm so it didnt dry out three days later the soil was lifting the clingfilm so removed it and then later that day the bean boke the surface, couple more days and I now have stocky shoot with leaves opened, maybe it was too wet? or possible old seed?

Second planting has also rotted. New seeds between sheets of kitchen towel. The soil wasn't new and I am wondering I'd there was a pathogen in the soil that attacked the seed.
