Hi there can you just check if these sowing methods are right

Carrots 3cm between seeds 1/2 inch of compost to cover
Spring Onions 2cm between seeds 1/2 inch of compost to cover
Mooli 4 inches between seeds , How much compost should cover the seeds
Dwarf runnner beans one seed per pot and 4 cm deep

Sounds about right, although I don't measure, i just stick them in a pot and cover! The chunkier the seeds (so beans, courgettes, squash) get put in slightly deeper. Dont forget if you are direct sowing ie straight into the ground) not everything will come up, may get chomped etc, so you want to sow slightly thicker, and then thin out if necessary.

I have greater success broadcasting carrots and then thinning. Are there any instructions on your seed packets?

I would say they are all too deep.............twice the diam of the seed so a 2mm seed only needs sowing 4mm deep.

Agree with BM - 1/2 inch for carrots sounds an awful lot. I probably go a bit the other way, my reasoning being that in the "wild" seeds will fall onto the ground, not bury themselves under it!

Have you every grown a perilla or seasame leaf plant

I've no idea what either of those are.

Looks like its the same plant, a member of the mint family, used quite a lot in korean cooking. Tinternet says its an annual.
