I have plenty of roof (with solar panels) but the damn downpipes are all on the drive side and the drive is too narrow to accommodate 2 cars (its shared with the neighbour) and a water butt. I've looked at one for the garage roof but the only place to put it would make a very shady place totally shady and remove one of my spaces for a saladgrow planter. There was actually a water butt in that position when I moved in, but it blew down one day when it was empty and broke the garage downpipe, so I decided that wasn't a great idea.

The only time I use mains water is for seedtrays and I collect that from the hot tap - which runs cold initially.
VC:- May I ask why you do that?

Water butts on my greenhouse guttering as well. Also a couple of plastic containers which I fill when thewater butts are full.

I have 6 butts of varying sizes from a shed, and two greenhouses.
But none of them have been full since Christmas.
But as I do my growing in the back garden I can always resort to the hose, but try really hard not to.

I need rainwater for my blueberries in pots and carnivorus plants.

Only have one water butt, do need more, but I also need to construct something for the whole lot to sit on and that is the problem.

Have plans may get round to it eventually.

Because I can't bear to waste water! I can half fill a milk container with cold/tepid water before the hot water is hot enough for washing up!

Not enough!!!! Looks like I will have to save all the grey water for the non veggies this year.

Garden shed collects into a repurposed dustbin. Garage into a 100Ltr slim Butt. Greenhouse into two 100Ltr Slim butfs with another standby dustbin as reserve. Plot shed into 3 210Ltr butts linked. The plot butts are rarely full because the shed is only 6x4ft. This year (until last night) has beed a veritable drought and most of the butts have been low to empty. I shant have time today to check but all except the Plot butts should now be full for a while.
